What Shots Do Puppies Need?
Puppies need three sets of DHLPP puppy shots. The first set is usually given at approximately seven weeks old, with a three-week period between each set. The DHLPP puppy shot is a combination vaccine that protects against five separate diseases:

If you have lepto in your area then the vet might do a 6-way combination vaccine instead which is bascially everything in the 5-way plus Leptospirosis

At the same time as the DHLPP shots, the puppies can also be vaccinated against the Coronavirus. At 16 weeks of age they are given their Rabies shot. After that they need annual boosters in order to maintain their immunity.

How Do I Handle Separation Anxiety?
There are levels of separation anxiety, ranging from mild distress, such as barking and howling, to hysteria, including destructive behavior. There are a variety of treatment options depending on the level of anxiety, the triggers, and the age. Try calming music, herbal products, or behavior modification training. You should be able to lower the anxiety levels and teach them it’s okay to be left alone for while and that you’ll always return. Another great way to calm the puppies down is to purchase one of these toy puppies that have a real heart beat and heater inside. We've heard they have helped alot of people and their pets.  click here

What are Dewclaws and Do They Need to be Removed?
Dewclaws are fifth nails located on the ankle of dogs.  Kind of like a thumb on a human hand. They don't need to removed but watch carefully if they aren't because they can break, get caught in blankets and rugs, or grow into the foot. Most breeders will have them removed when they are only a few days old and the procedure is very minor. This way the dewclaws won't cause problems down the road.

What Do I Do if the Puppies Have Worms?
A large percentage of puppies have worms. Some worms can be seen in your dog's feces, and in severe cases of roundworm infestation, worms are visible in their vomit. Treatment is fairly straightforward. You will need your veterinarian to diagnose and confirm the infestation, and the type of worm involved. They will then prescribe the appropriate dewormer. Do not use over-the-counter medications as they can be ineffective or even harmful.

What is the Best Way to Potty Train Puppies?
The easiest way to housebreak puppies is by using a crate. Crate training works with the puppy's natural instincts and helps speed up the whole potty training process. With that said, micro-tcup and teacup puppies typically don't do well being crated for long periods of time. They also are more difficult to train to go "potty outside" in bad or cold weather. If you own a micro-tcup or teacup size puppy you may consider purchasing some type of potty park. Never use "washable pee pads" as you will train the puppy to potty on cloth. And think about it, what else in your house is cloth...blankets, beds, couches, clothes or towels on the floor etc...
