- Liability insurance
- A city business license
- Register a business name
- Set up your business as an LLC
- Create service agreements or contracts
Owning a business means wearing several hats simultaneously. In the beginning, it may be a lot to balance, but in the end most people find they earn more with self-employment.
Equipment and Start-Up Costs to Consider
Compared to other industries, a professional dog walking business requires very moderate start-up and overhead costs. Individual business requirements vary, and the money needed ranges broadly depending on the type of services offered and whether or not a storefront is required. At a minimum, you will need a vehicle, education fees, leashes, first aid equipment, and marketing supplies. The good news is that 85 percent of professional dog walkers can open their businesses without having to borrow money.
