What Should I Feed My Mi-Ki?

About Mi Kis
The Mi-Ki dog breed is considered new and quite rare, having only been developed in the 1980s. He resembles a mix between a Papillon, Maltese, and Japanese Chin because of his small stature, feathered ears, and long, flowing hair. The Mi-Ki combines aspects from a variety of toy breeds but has a unique personality and appearance. He has a high level of intelligence while still being calm and affectionate, making him an excellent companion dog.

Feeding Requirements
We recommend feeding your Mi-Ki between three-quarters and one cup of high-quality, all-natural, premium dry dog food, spread over two meals a day. Look for a formula that is free of chemicals and preservatives and that does not contain wheat, soy, or corn. These fillers have no nutritional value and can lead to serious illnesses in addition to causing allergies. A blend that is developed by veterinarians and made in the U.S.A. is ideal.

Nutritional Requirements
Your Mi-Ki is a small breed dog with special nutritional requirements designed to meet his high energy needs, such as a high-protein diet derived from real meat (avoid any food that contains by-products). It should be listed first on the ingredient label along with an abundance of real vegetables and fruits. A nutritionally balanced, antioxidant-rich dog food fortified with essential vitamins and nutrients such as Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids will keep your Mi-Ki’s flowing hair shiny and skin healthy. While a relatively healthy breed, your Mi-Ki is prone to patellar luxation. Feeding him a diet that includes Glucosamine will help support healthy bone and joint development. One that includes prebiotics will support a healthy digestive tract, and natural sources of DHA will support healthy brain development. The best food is a holistic blend that is specially formulated to meet your Mi-Ki's individual needs.
